The original graphite work was a commission from a friend, who was looking for a work related to our neighborhood. From there, I chose the subject, the iconic clock at the corner of Hastings and Centre Streets in West Roxbury, and a visible home for the at that point, recently added bike lanes. The image gives a strong sense of the place -- showing the base assumption of the car as a means of transport, modified with the bike lanes, but also with the support of pedestrians with the large and open sidewalk. Also clear is one of the draws of the neighborhood: its rather suburban feel, with trees surrounding the area.
